Engineers

Jessica Jones
JONES

Jessica Jones of The RMH Group, Lakewood, Colo., was recently promoted to director of sustainable services. She will spearhead the company’s sustainable design and facilitate its commitment to providing low-energy-use mechanical and electrical engineering solutions. Her job will include maintaining the firm-wide focus on green design by keeping the company abreast of trends and technologies and coordinating in-house green training.

Jonathan Jensen, associate mechanical engineer with Spectrum Engineers, Salt Lake City, has earned the Building Energy Modeling Professional certification from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers.

Jensen provides mechanical engineering services for health-care, hospitality, education, military and other project types.

He is licensed to practice mechanical engineering in Utah. He is also LEED accredited and an ASPE-Certified Plumbing Designer who has earned ASHRAE’s High-Performance Building Design Professional and BEMP certifications.

Patrick McManus has rejoined Martin/Martin Inc. Consulting Engineers, Lakewood, Colo., as structural department technical director. McManus is an expert in the principles of steel design, seismic design and design-build projects and will be involved with the firm’s construction services.

He launched and managed the Martin/Martin Wyoming office in Cheyenne from 2001-06, before directing the engineering/detailing department of Puma Steel for the past four years. From 2006-08, he also served as Wyoming director at-large for the Design-Build Institute of America, where he authored and lobbied for design-build legislation there.

Architects

Mary M. Morissette is the new senior architect and deputy team operations lead for the Denver office of international architecture, planning, engineering, interior design and program management firm Leo A Daly. In her new role, Morissette is responsible for marketing and business development through design, project management in the federal sector, and development of deliverable documents and construction administration. As deputy team operations leader, she will monitor the quality of all projects in the office and have assistant overview responsibility for all professional services.

Michael T. Buell has joined MHTN Architects, Salt Lake City, as marketing director. Buell brings with him 18 years of marketing and business development leadership expertise within the AEC industry. He has also developed a national reputation by leading SMPS’s Business Development Institute and has been its lead presenter throughout the country over the last six years.

Mary M. Morissette

Robby D. Layton, Lafayette, Colo.-based Design Concepts founder and principal, was recently elected as a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects.

Layton co-founded Design Concepts in 1981. He was its president until 2010, guiding the firm through more than 1,500 projects and more than 30 design awards.

A recognized leader in sustainability, he is well known for his water-wise, drought-tolerant landscape designs, including many parks in the Rocky Mountain region such as Fossil Creek Community Park in Fort Collins, Westlands Park in Greenwood Village and Foothills Community Park in Boulder.

Tim Shabanowitz and Christine Winans of Heery International recently became registered architects in Colorado.

Since joining Heery in 2006, Shabanowitz has been on the design team for Adams County Justice Center Phase II Courts Expansion, Routt County Justice Center, Medical Center of the Rockies and Aspen Valley Hospital.

Winans brings more than 11 years of design experience to the health-care industry, working with clients such as Denver Health Medical Center, Rose Medical Center, Medical Center of the Rockies, Vail Valley Medical Center and Memorial Hospital. Currently, she is involved with a space utilization study for Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver. She is also a registered architect in Wyoming.
