Colello says Philadelphia is making “generational investments” in transportation infrastructure to modernize “legacy assets” and improve regional mobility. Examples include Interstate 95 multiphase improvements, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority trolley modernization and renovations at the Amtrak 30th Street Station. 

“Motivated to revitalize century-old assets and keep pace with neighboring metro areas, Philadelphia’s transportation agencies are leveraging federal funding from the bipartisan infrastructure law,” he says.

Projects and programs “allow agencies to move beyond short-term improvements toward transportation systems that bring the greatest benefits possible to the Philadelphia region,” Colello adds.

He says that Philadelphia’s infrastructure improvement efforts will continue next year, looking ahead to such major 2026 events as the FIFA World Cup, MLB All-Star Game and the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
