Gold Hard Hat Award Denver School of Science & Technology Submitted by KL&A Inc The Denver School of Science & Technology project consisted of a 45,000-sq-ft middle school addition to an existing high school in Denver. The school benefited from a delivery method, with the develop-design-build contract awarded to Confluence Builders of Denver, who then managed the financing of the project, the design and the construction. Klipp and KL&A Inc., also of Denver, contracted with Confluence for the design, while Confluence held and managed all the subcontracts. Gold Hard Hat Award City of Alamosa Water Treatment Plant Submitted by Richard P. Arber Associates The City of Alamosa Water Treatment Plant is a 5-million-gal.-per-day facility for removal of arsenic from the city’s well water. The project encompassed the Water Treatment Plant, yard piping and improvements at eight remote sites, including well houses and storage tanks. The new WTP brings the city of Alamosa into compliance with the EPA’s new standards for arsenic adopted in 2001. Gold Hard Hat Award The Enhanced Hazardous Waste Landfill – Phase 1 Submitted by ClearWater Construction This seven-building firefighting training center campus was built for North Metro Fire Rescue District, a multicounty fire rescue district that serves portions of the north Metro Denver. The campus was constructed in the style of a small community to allow NMFRD to conduct real-life fire emergency simulations for first-time and ongoing training.
