The Anaheim City Council has approved the team of Parsons Brinckerhoff/HOK as the design architects and engineers for phase one of the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center complex. ARTIC is expected to serve as a connectivity gateway and mixeduse destination on a 16-acre site owned by the Orange County Transit Authority and the city of Anaheim. The design submitted by PB/HOK is a 66,000-sq-ft transportation facility that can add additional space. The building is expected to seek a LEED Platinum rating. Temecula-based EDGE Development was awarded the contract for the California State University, San Bernardino Health Center renovation/expansion, a $4 million project designed by RSK Associates. Phase I includes the new concrete tilt-up construction to expand the existing Health Center. This approximately 11,000 sq ft new construction also includes some site work and connection to existing utilities. Phase II work will include the renovation of the existing approximate 11,000 sq ft of existing infrastructure.
Jaynes Corp. was recently awarded the contract for the design and construction of the new $2 million Death Valley National Park Housing Units at Furnace Creek. Jaynes Corp. Contracted for Death Valley National Park Project The project includes design and construction of three multi-family housing units on an eight-acre site. When completed the housing addition will be home to Death Valley National Park Service employees and their families. Jaynes Corporation has teamed with Dekker/Perich/Sabatini Design of Albuquerque to complete the 11-month project. The project will be designed and constructed to obtain LEED silver certifi cation when completed in early 2011.

Swinerton Builders and Sausal Corp. broke ground on two San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge toll plaza projects this month that will result in a new 22,600-sq-ft toll administration building in the parking lot directly east of the existing toll administration facility and a new 10,600-sq-ft structure to house Caltrans� Bay Bridge tow services operations. International Brotherhood of Teamsters & Teamsters Local 287, the U.S. Supreme Court last week confirmed Graniterock�s jury verdict against Local 287 and refused to dismiss the International Brotherhood of Teamsters from the case, leaving Graniterock several options to pursue claims against the International. Representatives from the Federal Highway Administration, U.S. Transportation Department, Caltrans and the Orange County Transportation Authority were on hand last week for the groundbreaking of the $400-million West County Connectors project near Garden Grove. The new interchange, which relies on $50 million in funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will include additional HOV lanes, improve safety and reduce congestion.
