Gold Hard Hat Award The Enhanced Hazardous Waste Landfill – Phase 1 Submitted by ClearWater Construction This seven-building firefighting training center campus was built for North Metro Fire Rescue District, a multicounty fire rescue district that serves portions of the north Metro Denver. The campus was constructed in the style of a small community to allow NMFRD to conduct real-life fire emergency simulations for first-time and ongoing training. The master plan for the Park Avenue Redevelopment site in Denver calls for 873 mixed-income rental housing as well as affordable homeownership opportunities. The 62,000-sq-ft medical office building for Poudre Valley Health System in Fort Collins is designed to integrate aspects of the existing campus while making the building its own vision. Gold Hard Hat Award Vestas Towers Submitted by IES Commercial Danish wind-energy giant, Vestas, continued its building of new facilities in Colorado with its Pueblo project. The wind-tower project consisted of construction on a fast-track industrial production campus consisting of four buildings: a 460,000-sq-ft production facility where the tower sections will be made, a 260,000-sq-ft surface treatment plant for finishes, a 115,000-sq-ft internals building where the hardware will be installed in sections and a 30,000-sq-ft administration building. The Oquirrh School was originally designed by Richard Kletting, designer and architect for the Utah State Capitol before the turn of the 20th Century. The new project celebrated a grand opening on August 29. The attic of the historic school is once again a place for children, designed as a colorful, safe play loft for kids at The Children’s Center. The Children’s Center project includes many sustainable design aspects, including new windows.
