ENR’s editors selected Helix Electric as the 2021 ENR MidAtlantic Specialty Contractor of the Year.
The firm, which was awarded the honor by ENR’s editors, will be recognized as part of the Best Projects 2021 awards event on Oct. 28. For more information about the Regional Best Projects event, please visit https://www.enr.com/enr-best-projects-awards/baltimore
The December issue of ENR MidAtlantic will also include a profile on Helix Electric. The issue will also feature the entire list of the top-ranked specialty contractors based on 2020 revenue. Helix ranked No. 8 on last year’s ranking with $108.5 million in revenue.
The California-based firm with one MidAtlantic office in Chantilly, Va. is moving to a larger location in the next six months. Helix will be relocating from its 9,000 sq ft office to a new 30,000 sq ft facility early next year, collocating its management staff with its regional logistics and prefabrication teams under one roof. “This strategy will offer more solutions for our clients to minimize waste on the project sites and focus on becoming leaner,” the firm says.
Helix attributes its success in the MidAtlantic region to repeat clients “while diversifying both in market sectors and clientele. Our expanding local operations group has been very effective with project execution that drives additional winning work because of their performance.”
Helix Electric's Helping Hands project is a nationwide philanthropic initiative meant to give back to local communities and help build stronger communities. In the firm’s MidAtlantic office, the Helping Hands program holds annual blood drive, donating more than 70 pints of blood each year.
The firm also donated 1,500 pounds of food to local families for Thanksgiving and raised over $2,500 for Skin Cancer research. Additionally, the firm sponsored families for back-to-school supplies, local apprenticeship fundraisers, the George Washington University sports programs, IDEA charter school, and Youth for Tomorrow. The firm says it also motivates employees to get involved in supporting them.
