Anaheim-based Pinner Construction has built a reputation in Southern California as a company ready to take on high-quality projects that help improve the communities they serve. The company has recognized the need in Southern California for both new and modernized public facilities and has built a reputation across several public market sectors including civic, educational and public safety facilities.

Pinner Construction has been chosen as ENR California’s 2024 Contractor of the Year.

The company's approach is paying off after taking a step back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Pinner officials say the company has stayed nimble by utilizing alternative delivery methods and developing a strong team of contractors.

Last year, the firm's revenue topped $182 million, an increase of almost 10% in and over the company's pre-pandemic high mark.

Several of the key projects the firm has been involved in include:

  • Port of Long Beach Fire Boat Station 15 and Station 20 - In the past four years, Pinner has delivered two of these innovative and sustainable dual-use facilities. Station 15 was a 2022 ENR California Best Project winner.
  • City of Los Angeles Rancho Cienega Sports Complex - A 49,000-sq-ft upgraded LEED Gold facility includes a new indoor pool, gymnasium and support space for use by local residents.
  • Los Angeles Unified School District, Grant High School Comprehensive Modernization - This on-going $144-million project requires the demolition of 11 permanent buildings and 12 relocatable buildings, and in their place, six new buildings and a central plant.

Building quality projects that help communities are only one part of Pinner's "giving back" approach. The firm has worked with Small Business and Disabled Veteran Enterprises, employing members of the community on our projects, and partnering with our clients to better the lives of individuals in the trades.

Pinner has awarded more than $265 million in subcontracts to SBEs in the past eight years. Further, they have provided job opportunities to local residents on our projects that have resulted in more than 325,000 hours per year. The firm achieved a 70% local hire participation rate for the Anaheim Union High School District's Dale Jr. High School.
