The jury is in and Jingoli-DCO has been named ENR New York’s 2012 Contractor of the Year. In another tough year for industry, Jingoli-DCO managed to boost 2011 regional revenue to $422 million, up 23% over the prior year, and move up the rankings list to a top-10 spot. But revenue was only one of the criteria for nominees, which also had to demonstrate efforts to go above and beyond the norm regarding safety, sustainability and social responsibility. Jingoli-DCO scored high on all of these points.
The firm, which does about 60% of its work in the tristate region, has worked on a variety of projects but it says that a rise in energy work, in particular, helped revenue improve. In this sector, its work includes pipeline, combined heat and power, as well as substation projects with area utilities. One of its recent projects was site prep work for a N.J. converter station, part of the underground Hudson River transmission line project.
The firm has consistently had one of the industry’s lowest experience modification rates (EMR) for safety, a measure used by the insurance industry to calculate policy premiums. It also has the lowest EMR in New Jersey. Jingoli-DCO supports a myriad of philanthropies and has worked to develop apprenticeship programs to help draw young people to the trades.
The firm, chosen by ENR regional editors, will be featured in ENR New York’s July issue, which will also include a ranking of the tristate’s 50-largest contractors that participated in this year’s survey.
Congratulations Jingoli-DCO.
