ENR New England has named Alexandria Real Estate its 2015 Owner of the Year. The award, which was voted on by ENR editors, recognizes the REIT’s two decades of work, clustering life science facilities adjacent to renowned academic and medical institutions. In the Boston area, Alexandria Real Estate has developed or is planning approximately 4.5-million square feet of rentable space with clusters located near MIT and Harvard University.
Some of ARE’s Boston clients include Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, Biogen Idec, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Eisai, GlaxoSmithKline, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Novartis, Sanofi, Thermo Fisher Scientific and UMass Memorial Health Care.
In 2014, it completed a 410,000-sq-ft facility at 225 Binney Street—the first of five planned buildings for the Alexandria Center at Kendall Square development. Based on its complexity, the project was awarded the ENR New England’s Best Office/Retail/Mixed-Used Development. Last year, Alexandria broke ground on another project at Alexandria Center—the $150-million 50 Binney St R&D building.
As a developer of complex facilities—often as build-to-suit for tenants—Alexandria emphasizes use of collaborative tools and techniques to meet the needs of clients.
Alexandria Real Estate will be featured in the upcoming April 13 issue of ENR New England.
