While this is the first year J.T. Magen & Company has participated in ENR’s New York regional and Top 400 contractor surveys, the firm came seemingly out of nowhere to make a big impression.
So far, it’s among the Top 10 contractors by regional revenue in New Jersey and New York. And this month it came in at No. 84 on ENR's national Top 400 Contractors main ranking, as well as 47th for domestic building revenue and 51st for new contracts.
J.T. Magen, based in Manhattan, last year won two major projects in the city: Nordstrom’s flagship store, with its wavy glass façade combined with historic building renovation; and 1 Wall Street, a mixed-use project comprising condos, retail and leisure facilities that’s one of the biggest prewar building conversions in New York.
In 2017, the company also won 16 industry awards for projects it built, including Nike’s New York headquarters and showroom, which spans 147,000 sq ft on six floors and includes 32-ft slab heights, a regulation basketball court, a library and a food truck; the Adidas Fifth Avenue flagship, the brand’s biggest store; Publicis’ corporate office; and Barneys New York Downtown’s interiors.
