ENR New York is happy to announce that Vericon Construction Company has been named the region's Contractor of the Year for 2020!

Vericon, based in Mountainside, N.J., saw a 10% increase in 2019 regional revenue over the year before, to $143.77 million. It has shown similar increases over the past few years, according to the region’s past Top Contractors rankings. The general contracting and construction management firm, founded in 2005, also says it’s seen an average yearly growth rate of 38% for total revenue.

Vericon has significantly expanded beyond the Garden State, opening new regional offices in North Carolina, Florida, Georgia and Virginia. Its employee ranks have grown from five to more than 150 employees who manage upwards of 700 projects per year for high-profile, Fortune 500 clients primarily in the financial, health care and corporate sectors.

Among the notable regional projects in which the firm has been involved are the $36 million project at 340 Mount Kemble in Morristown, N.J., which broke ground in 2019; and the $20 million YMCA in Berkeley Heights, N.J., completed last year.

The company is also known for its safety record. It has an Experience Modification Rate, or EMR, of 0.581, well below the industry average of 1.0. Vericon is currently ranked as one of the safest in New Jersey based on its EMR by the New Jersey Compensation Rating and Inspection Bureau.

The firm also gives back to its communities. It formed the nonprofit Vericon Foundation in 2015, which has raised more than $130,000 for local charities.
