ENR New York is pleased to announce the 2021 regional Specialty Contractor of the Year: E-J Electric Installation Co., which based in Long Island City, N.Y., and also has offices in New Jersey, Connecticut and Rhode Island. The firm saw its annual New York/New Jersey regional revenue grow to $650M in 2020, from $637.1M the year before.
The firm topped ENR New York’s Top Specialty Contractors list last year and in 2019, and has been in the list’s Top 3 since at least 2005, the oldest year that the list appears on our website. (This year's list hasn't been finalized, and the regional specialty contractors survey deadline has been extended to Aug. 31.)
E-J's largest project completed in 2020 was the core and shell for the massive One Vanderbilt, a contract worth $64,399,688. Its largest to break ground that same year was the American Museum of Natural History’s Gilder Center, a contract worth $28,139,668; the project itself is $383M, as we reported in 2019. The company is also working on the Javits Center expansion project
Just as impressive is E-J’s community charity work, particularly in the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, which the firm says comes from its own status as a family owned business. For the past year, the company has supported Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens (CCBQ) by providing food assistance and distribution of quality food for nearly 120,000 meals. To date, the firm's Roadway Division packaged and distributed food at pop-up pantries, which fed over 10,000 families and 2,500 seniors throughout both of those boroughs.
“Our company’s commitment starts with basic humanity,” the firm says.
