ENR’s annual Best Projects competition is continuing its focus on the safety side of construction with its Excellence in Safety Award, now in its fourth year as part of the program. This year, ENR Texas & Louisiana is singling out six projects for their outstanding safety records and job-site procedures.
We utilized a separate judging process from the regular competition in order to focus on the safety elements behind each entry. This year’s safety judges were Trey Rivet, Director of Safety & Workforce Development at the Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance, and Steve Trickel, Vice President of Employee Relations at JV Industrial Cos. Ltd.
Our safety judges reviewed more than 50 entries on a variety of elements, such as the project’s safety program, OSHA recordable incident rate, lost time accident rate as well as total man hours on the job.
For ENR Texas & Louisiana’s 2015 “Best Safety” award, our judges have selected the North Tarrant Express (NTE) Segments 1 &2W, submitted by Ferrovial Agroman US Corp. The project was also named Best Project in the Highways/Bridges category of this year’s competition.
Another five projects were also selected to receive safety awards of merit.
ENR Texas & Louisiana will feature more about these projects, along with our other Best Projects winners in the December 7/14 print edition. Our safety winners will also be recognized at the Texas & Louisiana Best Projects Luncheon on Dec. 8 in Houston. Be sure to register online for the event here.
Congratulations to this year’s safety winners, listed below!
