ENR Texas & Louisiana has recognized Baton Rouge-based Performance Contractors as its 2016 Contractor of the Year.
Over the last several years, Performance Contractors has steadily been increasing its regional revenue, posting one of the largest jumps in revenue seen on this year’s regional Top Contractors ranking.
The firm, founded in 1979, mainly attributes this gain to the award of three significant projects that it has targeted for quite some time at ExxonMobil Mount Bellevue, Dow Chemical Plaquemine and CF Industries Port Neal, Iowa. Additionally, increased opportunities throughout the company’s Gulf South Region positively affected its annual volume.
In addition to its offices across Louisiana, with its corporate headquarters in Baton Rouge, Performance Contractors has locations in Texas, Mississippi, Alabama and Iowa.
The company renewed its focus on increased training, employee incentive programs and employee recognition. In the area of training, the firm is turning to video training that uses real life situations on some of the firm’s projects, where its own employees are the presenters, as a growing part of its overall safety program. These videos are used as part of pre-employment training as well.
The firm recently earned Best In Class-General Contractor Large at the 29th annual Houston Business Roundtable safety awards, and its Southeast Division also earned a 2016 (TOPS) award—Target Outstanding Project Safety—from the Southeastern Construction Owners and Associates Roundtable.
Performance Contractors is a corporate sponsor for Give A Wish Foundation, and is also active in dozens of other charitable efforts and organizations, including: the American Cancer Society, Baton Rouge Area Chamber, Boy Scouts of America, Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge, Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, Louisiana Chemical Industry Alliance, St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital and Wounded Warriors Heroes, among many others.
