San Antonio-based Joeris General Contractors was able to achieve record-breaking revenue in 2021, despite numerous challenges, including the ongoing pandemic, supply chain delays and labor shortages. The firm also is committed to the growth of its employees and making a positive impact on the communities in which its teams work. For these reasons and more, ENR Texas & Louisiana has selected Joeris as 2022 Contractor of the Year.
Joeris posted record revenue of $761 million in 2021, up 14% from 2020, thanks in part to a number of notable projects. Those include a portion of Spurs Sports & Entertainment's $500-million human performance campus called The Rock at La Cantera, University Health's 545,000-sq-ft Women's and Children's Hospital in a joint venture with J.E. Dunn, Sotomayor High School for Northside ISD and Project Tech 2 office building at Port San Antonio.
To help combat ongoing labor shortages, Joeris is fostering growth in its people through a career advancement program that allows current employees and new hires to change career paths no matter their background.
“Joeris’ philosophy on career advancement and professional development has been a successful tool in helping the company to retain its highly trained workforce of 500 team members,” said Julie Delahunt, vice president, HR and Learning & Development at Joeris. “Our people are our biggest asset. Retaining their investment in Joeris and dedication to excellence is critical every year but especially in a year marked with numerous challenges.”
The firm has been building in San Antonio since 1967, and its strong performance over the past year drew in numerous awards, including San Antonio Business Journal’s Business of the Year, AGC’s General Contractor of the Year and SABJ’s San Antonio’s Best Places to Work.
Joeris is donating time and services toward building a new elementary school campus in Ulvade, Texas, to replace Robb Elementary School, which will soon be demolished. Joeris and fellow Texas-based firm Huckabee are serving as founding donors on the project for which grocer H-E-B and its founders the Butt family announced they will commit $10 million.
