An independent jury selected 22 winners of ENR’s 2012 'Best Projects' competition in the Northwest region, our annual program recognizing the region's best achievements in design and construction.
The winners were recognized for excellence in 15 categories, including Civil Works/Infrastructure, Cultural/Worship, Government/Public Building, Green, Health Care, Higher Education/Research, Industrial/Manufacturing, Interiors, K-12, Renovation/Restoration, Residential/Hospitality, Retail/Mixed-Use, Small Project, Specialty Contracting, Sports/Entertainment and Transportation.
The projects will be featured in a special Northwest edition of ENR in December. Projects will also be honored during a joint awards ceremony with ENR California, Dec. 6, 2012, in San Francisco, Calif. In addition to honoring the firms who submitted the projects, all key team members will be recognized for their efforts.
The jury focused on those projects that overcame significant challenges; adopted innovative approaches; executed exceptional design and craftsmanship; and maintained safe sites. Jurors were allowed to award one Project of the Year per category and multiple Awards of Merit. The jurors, who represent architects, engineers and general contractors, are all active members of the local building community. They abstained from voting on any projects with which they are affiliated or have a conflict of interest.
All category winners advance to the national judging of ENR’s Best Projects competition. National award winners will be announced later this year and featured in a future edition of ENR.
In addition to the category winners, an overall Best Project in the Northwest region was also selected and will be announced in the December special edition of ENR magazine.
