If you are attending the inaugural USGBC Arizona Chapter awards this Wednesday in Phoenix, be sure to say “hello” to me, along with the rest of the McGraw-Hill southwest team from Dodge and ENR Southwest, who will be in attendance.

Despite the USGBC awards being a brand new event, the Arizona Chapter has done a great job of putting together a stellar lineup, including speakers such as Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton and master of ceremonies Pat McReynolds from CBS Channel 5. Scheduled attendees include the mayors of Scottsdale, Tempe and many other valley cities.

I will be on hand to present one of the awards as part of the association’s first annual program, dubbed the Heavy Medals: Success Beyond A Scorecard Awards. The awards will honor current and past LEED-certified buildings in Arizona, since, other than the certification, there has been little recognition of LEED certified buildings in the past.

The luncheon is on Wednesday, October 24th from 11–1 p.m., at the Phoenix Convention Center West (appropriately, a LEED-Silver building).  To register for the luncheon or for more information, visit http://www.usgbcaz.org/calendar?eventId=517108&EventViewMode=EventDetails
