The votes are in. And ENR's regional editors have selected Tri-City Electrical Contractors of Altamonte Springs, Fla., as this year's Specialty Contractor of the Year.
According to information the firm submitted to ENR Southeast's annual specialty contractors survey, the longtime Central Florida specialty stalwart experienced an especially strong surge in revenue in 2013. During 2013, Tri-City Electrical earned approximately $128 million in regional revenue, a 45% gain over the year prior. That increase landed Tri-City in the top 10 of the upcoming ranking. In fact, that 45% jump was the highest percentage gain of any firm in the top 10.

Tri-City officials attribute the revenue increase to a resurgence in Central Florida building projects, including at the area's theme parks. Among the projects contributing to the firm's 2013 revenue are the $170-million Four Seasons Resort project (located on Disney property); the $383-million Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Orlando; and SkyHouse Orlando high-rise apartment project.
Additionally, Tri-City Electrical ranked third overall for the state of Florida, and was the Southeast's second-ranked firm for electrical work.
As a result of this recognition, ENR Southeast's Sept. 8, 2014, print edition will feature a profile story on Tri-City Electrical, where we'll provide more insights dealing with the company's latest success.
