Contractors responding to ENR Southeast’s Top Contractors survey reported an accelerated pace of construction in 2015, with the group’s overall rate of growth roughly doubling from a year ago.

According to preliminary survey data received from more than 100 firms, the group’s overall revenue from construction activity in the four-state region of Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas grew to $23.45 billion in 2015, a nearly 11.7% increase from the $21 billion in 2014 revenue reported a year ago. That 11.7% increase more than doubles the percentage gain of 5.6% that Top Contractor survey respondents collectively reported a year ago.

Looking at the collective revenue of the top 10 ranked firms provides another perspective. For the survey conducted a year ago, of 2014 revenue, last year’s top 10-ranked contractors reported $7.9 billion in revenue. That represented an 11.2% gain for that year’s “Top 10” over the previous year’s.

By comparison, this year’s top 10—yet to be revealed—collectively reported $9.1 billion in revenue, which represented a 15.2% increase over the $7.9 billion they reported in last year’s survey. So the year-over-year percentage gain in the latest survey jumped four points over the 11.2% increase reported last year.
