Overall, contractors working in the Southeast are reporting an increasing pace of business activity, with many firms responding to ENR Southeast’s latest Top Contractors survey showing considerable year-over-year jumps in revenue. As noted in a recent blog post previewing this year’s upcoming Top Contractors ranking, survey respondents collectively reported a nearly 12% jump in revenue from activity in the four-state region of Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas.
But few firms could match the increase reported by Suffolk Construction Co., this year’s Southeast Contractor of the Year. The contractor earned roughly $552.6 million in 2015 Southeast revenue, an 83% climb from what the firm reported for 2014. Moreover, Suffolk landed four projects on ENR Southeast’s most recent Top Starts ranking of the largest contracts to start construction during 2015. Those included the $200-million Miami Central project for Southeast Owner of the Year All Aboard Florida, as well as the $180-million Prive at Island Estates condominium project in Aventura, Fla., pictured here.
Other major contract wins include the Bristol condominium in West Palm Beach, the Ritz-Carlton Residences in Sunny Isles Beach, and the expansion of Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. With that run of wins, the contractor added 84 employees to its Southeast roster.
ENR Southeast will provide readers with much more information and perspective on the firm in our July 11 print edition. For now, we offer our congratulations to Suffolk Construction Co. for its recognition as Southeast Contractor of the Year.
