This time last year, as ENR Southeast previewed its Top Contractors ranking , firms across the Southeast were discussing the "new normal" in demand across the region following the "hyperactive" market conditions during the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
In total, over 100 firms participated in ENR Southeast's Top Contractors ranking this year and managed to stay quite busy in 2022. Total construction revenue increased for the second consecutive year, reaching over $52 billion, up from just under $50 billion the previous year when 125 companies completed surveys.
Industry leaders like Jim Gorrie, CEO of Brasfield & Gorrie, and Scott Moss of Moss Construction, reported last year that they anticipated the ongoing wave of work to continue, despite rising interest rates and challenges in finding skilled trade workers. The data from this year's survey appears to support their predictions.
The 105 firms that completed surveys for this year's ranking reported a combined regional construction revenue of $52.8 billion across Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Puerto Rico.
