Last year, specialty contracting firms were pushing against the headwinds of increased prices and supply chain issues as the Southeast’s construction economy itself managed to weather the storm on its way toward moderate growth.
But for Kennesaw, Ga.-based Martin Concrete Construction, there wasn’t much that was "moderate" about its 2022 growth, as the firm grew its year-over-year revenue by more than 40%, to $233 million throughout the Southeast region, which includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Puerto Rico.
That growth is only part of the reason ENR’s editors chose to recognize Martin Concrete as the 2023 ENR Southeast Specialty Contractor of the Year.
The firm also completed award-winning projects with an award-winning safety record – logging more than 325,000 work hours with a zero incident rate – and expanded their operations and capabilities with the first LR 1400 SX 400-ton crane to be put to work in the United States.
Among noteworthy projects Martin Concrete completed in 2022 is the 1.2 million-sq-ft Savannah Port Logistics Center, which includes 8-in. reinforced concrete flooring, almost 580,000 sq ft of HD concrete paving and 228 tilt-up panels totaling almost a quarter-million square feet.
We’ll have more information about the firm’s achievements in 2022 when Martin Concrete is profiled in the Sept. 4 edition of ENR Southeast, alongside the full rankings for the region's Top Specialty Contractors. And there’s still time to be included in that ranking, which has been extended through Aug. 7. Congratulations Martin Concrete!
