Melissa Gunter is a water resources control engineer with the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board focusing on recycled water, wastewater treatment systems, policy and regulation, and groundwater protection. Melissa serves on the Water Board climate action team and participates in efforts to advance environmental justice and multi benefit nature based solutions to climate change adaptation. She champions the safe expansion of recycled water by working to adapt the current regulatory frameworks to permit recycled water projects more efficiently and support innovative treatment technologies. She is a member of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps and the Water Solutions Network, which is committed to fostering bold, collaborative action to achieve equitable and sustainable water stewardship in California. Melissa serves on the WateReuse Decentralized, Onsite, and Distributed Water Recycling Systems Committee and participated in the Silicon Valley Onsite Water Systems stakeholder workgroup. She has a MS in environmental engineering sciences with a focus on ecological engineering and systems ecology, a BS in civil engineering, and a graduate certificate in forest carbon, science, policy, and management.
