Conversation Table: Data-Driven Modeling from Design through Construction and Operation
Design models are increasingly detailed, expanding the dimensions of BIM beyond space, schedule, materiality, and sequence to include energy, operations, and more. Additionally, new technologies in construction such as robotics and required feedback in operations to meet environmental and operational goals demand that we create models differently than in the past. Our conversation will focus on existing challenges in coordinating models in design and effectively translating those to the challenges experienced in the field, and on how new technologies and drivers are changing the nature of modeling and feedback from construction and beyond into the design process.
