Award of Merit, Higher Education: Central New Mexico Community College Student Resource Center
Designed for LEED-Silver certification, the resource center serves a student population of more than 27,000 at the state's second-largest educational institution. The multi-functional hub includes the main campus library, classrooms and a data center. Construction involved extensive data and electrical cabling, a raised floor system and a cabling vault. Located in the center of campus, the building was designed as a signature piece of architecture, with a grand outdoor lobby gathering space. The building's darker brick pays homage to the existing buildings on campus, while the white masonry is intended to influence future development at the college.
