Robins & Morton completed the 623,260-sq-ft University Medical Center of El Paso, the only nonprofit, community-owned hospital in the area, in June 2012.
Work included the renovation of an existing 60-year-old hospital and two major additions—an expanded trauma center as well as the 224,000-sq-ft women and children's hospital in a newly constructed 11-story tower.
The $195-million project began in March 2007, and careful planning kept the hospital operating during the entire construction process.
Prefabrication also helped the contractor reduce risk and interruptions on site.
