Product Snapshot: Hydraulic Excavator and Concrete Temperature Monitor

The Hitachi ZX5670LC-6 hydraulic excavator has an operating weight of 154,103 lb, and a maximum digging depth of 30 ft. The excavator is powered by a 463-hp Isuzu diesel engine that meets EPA Tier 4 Final emission standards. The engine uses a combination of cooled exhaust-gas recirculation, a diesel-oxidation catalyst and selective catalytic reduction to meet the standards. No diesel-particulate filter is required. Fuel and DEF fluid consumption on the ZX5670LC-6 has been reduced, compared to the Interim Tier 4 model machine. The ZX5670-LC also features an additional coolant tank, which helps keep the engines cooling system working efficiently when operating at high demand.

The EcoVolve ED100 Electric High-Tip Dumper is a 1-ton material transporter. The ED1000s charger can automatically adjust to different voltages. The dumper can last a typical workday on a single charge and can fully recharge in seven hours. Highly maneuverable on tight jobsites, the dumper is only 3 ft, 3 in., wide and has a tight turning radius of only 5 ft, 5 in. With no emissions or exhaust, the ED1000 can operate safely indoors or in other areas that lack proper ventilation. The ED1000 sports McLaren NuAir solid-cushion tires, which are designed to reduce ground pressure and avoid damaging ground surfaces.

The Thermal Evaluation of Mass Pours (TEMP) system allows for monitoring of large concrete placements. TEMP Thermal Wire cables are embedded in the concrete during placement, allowing for measurement of internal temperatures. Each Thermal Wire cable has multiple temperature sensors along its length and sends temperature information back to the TEMP data logger. Multiple monitoring points along each cable provide a more complete temperature profile of the curing concrete than systems with a single sensor on each cable. The sensors themselves draw power from the data logger and do not require their own batteries, and the data loggers battery can last for 28 days on a single charge. The data logger syncs its data to the TEMP main unit for easy viewing on the built-in LCD or downloads the data to a computer.

The CXT Cone Crusher features a 40-in. high-speed bushing cone with hydraulically powered adjustment. Powered by a 415-hp Cat C-13 ACERT diesel engine, the track-mounted crusher is designed to produce cubical-shaped aggregate. Its durable structural-steel frame and fabricated components are made of grade-80 steel to reduce wear. The relatively small footprint of the crusher allows it to work in busy areas, and wireless remote operation is a standard feature.
