Coffee, Architects & Associates has been selected as the architect by the city of Newport Beach, and gkkworks selected as construction manager for construction of a new 35,000-sq-ft senior center in Newport Beach. Designed to meet a LEED Silver rating certification, the $21-million, three-building complex, known as the OASIS Senior Center, will replace an existing facility on the same 4.92-acre site. Contracts/Bids/Proposals CALIFORNIA Turner Construction Co. has been awarded a contract valued at $280-million to provide preconstruction and construction services for the Knight Management Center for Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business in Stanford. The new eight-building, 360,000-sq-ft facility will include a 600-seat lecture hall, dining facilities and classroom space, and a 900-space underground parking structure. The environmentally sustainable project will seek to achieve a LEED Platinum certification. Construction of the parking facility is under way, and construction of the seven additional buildings is expected to start in March 2009.
