Mechanical contractor Haberberger Inc. of St. Louis was recently recognized by the Mechanical Contractors Association of Eastern Missouri for its outstanding HVAC mechanical installation work on two projects for the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and Washington University’s Genome Sequencing Data Center.

Haberberger has been honored with the mechanical installation award 21 times for a variety of projects over the past several years.

Haberberger received an award in the category of projects under $400,000 for its work at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.

Under the leadership of foreman Ron Arbuthnot and project manager Todd Kramer, Haberberger installed a new 400-ton capacity chiller into the basement mechanical room at the Federal Reserve Bank. Hoisting the new chiller into the basement mechanical room proved challenging for the Haberberger team, as floor slabs had to be removed and a gantry system had to be installed to lower the new unit into the basement.

Due to the security restrictions at the Federal Reserve Bank, Haberberger also had to work on the project after normal business hours. This required a great level of cooperation and coordination between equipment deliveries, St. Louis for street blocking permits and the Federal Reserve Bank for access to secured areas.

The $370,000 project was completed in two months.

In the $400,000 to $1 million category, Haberberger was also recognized for its work at Washington University’s Genome Sequencing Data Center, the first data center in the Midwest designed to assist scientists in performing research on genome sequencing. Haberberger was in charge of installing a 350-ton chiller, a cooling tower, two pumps, a plate heat exchanger and four air handling units.
