Construction is ongoing at Bronx Community Colleges new 98,000-sq-ft North Instructional Building and Library where a recent supply of building products and submittal services has been provided.
The North Instructional Building was designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects of New York to match the original classical-revival style campus which was the former location of New York University before it moved to Manhattan and the campus became Bronx Community College. The new building is also designed to achieve LEED Silver status from the U.S. Green Building Council through the use of all recycled materials purchased from local vendors and will contain classrooms and a café on the first floor and a two-story library with a vaulted ceiling.
Recently, Park Avenue Building and Roofing Supplies, a family-owned business based in Brooklyn, supplied the project team which includes, construction manager, TDX Construction of New York, general contractor, National Environment of Long Island City, New York and subcontractor, TNS Management Services of Glendale, New York, with MarinoWARE metal framing, Tremco Below-Grade Waterproofing, USG Fiberock Interior Panels and Vulcraft Metal Decking for the new building, helping to meet the project’s scheduled completion date.
Construction first started in June 2009 and is scheduled for completion by January 2012.
