Nine Mile Canyon Road is a primary connecting route between the vast natural resources in the Uintah Basin in northeast Utah and railroad facilities in Carbon County. This reconstruction completed the 53-mile-long route between the towns of Myton and Price and helped transportation, land access, recreation and energy development.
Nicknamed "The World's Longest Art Gallery," Nine Mile Canyon is known for thousands of rock art sites. Special interest groups made every effort to protect these cultural resources during construction—using the threat of lawsuits, national media attention and carefully legislated protection requirements.
