Trimble Navigation, a leading location and positioning technology firm, integrates a wide range of technologies for the construction, surveying, agriculture, mapping and GPS industries. Trimble's new Rockies campus is a four-story, 125,000-sq-ft facility situated on a 15-acre site in Westminster, Colo.

Trimble's Rockies campus is designed to house 570 employees in a highly collaborative, open work environment.

The 31,250-sq-ft, structural-steel building has reinforced concrete floors. Egress within the structure is managed by three elevators and two stair towers located at both ends of the building.

The exterior skin is made of a high-strength, composite-resin rain-screen panel manufactured by Trespa with unitized curtain-wall windows fabricated by Wassau Window and Wall Systems.

White roofing material was chosen for its highly reflective properties, which help the building meet LEED heat-island requirements.

This highly sustainable building is projected to achieve LEED-Gold certification through the use of optimized mechanical and electrical systems that improve operating efficiency by 32%. The building's orientation and exterior skin elements maximize daylighting and views and have been designed to support future campus development.

The employee parking area provides for current needs and future growth by applying a design criteria of 5.0 spaces per 1,000 gross sq ft of leasable area.

Located directly adjacent to Walnut Creek open space and the Heritage Golf Course, the Trimble sitework required management of runoff, erosion control and dust migration to ensure compliance with the state's stormwater discharge regulations.

Using Trimble's office-to-field Connected Site solutions during the planning, construction and operational phases resulted in a more productive and efficient approach and a compelling test case example for the firm.

The excavation contractor used Trimble's heavy-highway technology to skip the rough grade and cut the site directly to finish grade in a single activity.
