The project is one of three Odessa District highway maintenance projects funded by federal stimulus dollars. The project will include strengthening the highway’s underlying base structure with cement prior to placing a pair of surface treatments. Work is expected to be completed this month.

Odessa-based Jones Bros. Dirt & Paving Contractors bid $1.4 million for the rehab job –38% under the $2.3-million estimate. The project was awarded in June by the Texas Transportation Commission.

Construction started in early fall on a $1.4-million project in Martin County to rebuild 7 mi of SH 137 from the Dawson County line south towards Stanton.
