Longview Bridge and Road Ltd. was the apparent low bidder on Segment 5 of Tyler District’s Toll 49 project, which runs approximately 2.5 mi between FM 756 and SH 110 in Whitehouse. The project is scheduled to break ground by early March and take approximately two-and-a-half years to complete.
The $15.6-million project was made possible by funding from Proposition 14, which borrows money against future gas tax revenues to push projects forward.
Segments 3A and 5 will approximately double the length of Toll 49 when completed in 2013, bringing it to roughly 16 mi.
Segment 3A began last summer. The approximately $38-million project runs between SH 155 and SH 31 west of Tyler and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2013.
A third segment, Segment 3B, a 10-mi segment between SH 31 and IH-20, is being developed by the North East Texas Regional Mobility Authority. Segment 1, between U.S. 69 and SH 155, opened in August 2006, followed by Segment 2, from U.S. 69 to FM 756 in December 2007.<<
