EAH Housing officially opened its newest affordable housing project, Drake’s Way, on April 22.
Drake’s Way, located in Marin County’s Larkspur Landing shopping center, will be the first multi-family, LEED-certified complex in the county. It is aiming for LEED silver certification.
The development will provide 24 new homes for very low income households. A partnership with various social service programs will allow for independent living for individuals living in five units set aside for people with special needs.
Designed by Russell + Davis Architects of San Rafael and built by L&D Construction of San Jose, the development will be part of an all-inclusive neighborhood, offering excellent pedestrian and transit access, neighboring a cooperative preschool, and within walking distance of a large district that includes shopping, restaurants and offices.
In order to maximize preservation of the natural environment, Drake’s Way is a carefully designed “infill” location. The 24 townhouse-style rental homes neighbor three acres of private open space, and 2.5 acres of donated park space to the city of Larkspur. Its close proximity to the Larkspur Ferry Terminal highlights this new transit-oriented development.
