Slack & Co. Contracting Inc., Houston, added Bob Sawicki to its staff as director of Business Development.

The American Institute of Architects, Houston Chapter, and the Architecture Center Houston Foundation appointed James R. “Rusty” Bienvenue as its new executive director. He is a graduate of University of Texas, Austin and received a juris doctorate degree from the University of Houston Law Center.

The Council for Educational Facility Planners International (or CEFPI), International Board of Directors, elected W.A. “Bill” Stice of Terracon, Houston, to serve on the CEFPI Communications Committee. CEFPI is a worldwide professional association whose mission is to improve the places where children learn. CEFPI members are actively involved in planning, designing, building, equipping and maintaining schools and colleges.

KBR, Houston, announced that Jim Stewart has been appointed business unit president, KBR Power and Industrial. Stewart holds a master’s in business administration in finance from the University of St. Thomas, a master’s of science in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and a bachelor’s of science in chemical engineering from Penn State University.

Intertech Commercial Flooring, Austin announced the addition of Jim Abercrombie as project manager in its Dallas/Fort Worth division.

The Texas Association of Builders, Austin, recently installed its officers for 2011: Randy Bayer, Katy; David Miller, Lubbock, Eddie Martin, Austin; and G. Granger MacDonald of Kerrville. Also, the late Martin Perlman, Houston, was formally inducted into the Texas Housing Hall of Honor by TAB along with C.W.L. “Dub” Dennis, Wichita Falls; Jean MacDonald, Kerrville; and Kent Conine, Dallas. ARC Abatement, Houston, announced Rick Rickels has been named general manager to oversee ARC’s Houston office. Rickels graduated from the University of North Texas with a bachelor’s of business administration in management and marketing.

Bailey Architects’ Ray Bailey in Houston was awarded the 2010 Texas Society of Architects Lifetime Achievement Medal. The TSA’s most prestigious award for an individual is awarded to members for a lifetime of distinguished leadership and dedication in architecture and community.

Andrews Myers, P.C., Houston, announced the addition of construction litigation attorney Seth A. Russell as a shareholder. Russell is a cum laude graduate of the University of Houston Law Center and received his undergraduate civil engineering degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
