Primavera Systems Inc. said in late January that it expected to ship the first web-enabled version of its project control tool
by Feb. 1.
The Bala Cynwyd, Pa.-based company sells, either separately or bundled, integrated products for project planning, execution and control. Expedition, the control tool, handles design revisions, requests for information and knowledge accumulation during the processing of a job. The new version, Expedition 8, is designed to let job supervisors take those functions to the field via the Web, and access them with a browser, says Joel Koppelman, Primavera CEO. "The biggest thing is ease of use and the total Web access to the Expedition database," he adds.
Chris Haywood, systems manager for C.J. Mahan Construction Co., a bridge builder based in Grove City, Ohio, is a beta tester. "Overall, I am very happy with it and excited about getting to roll this out," Haywood says. He says the daily report function is a tool that Mahan, with its jobs scattered across three states, could really use.
