A grade-separated interchange with roundabouts replaced a major at-grade intersection in a Minneapolis suburb. Dewatering contaminated soil required pumping 100 million gallons of water through a filtering system. Most dewatering occurred in winter, and keeping the pumps, hoses and filtering system operational was extremely challenging. The column-supported embankment also needed an automated instrumentation and monitoring system to track real-time performance of the embankment.
