Austin Commercial has named Brad Brown its new president. He replaces William McAdoo, a 36-year Austin Commercial employee-owner, who is retiring. Brown was previously a vice president in the Dallas office. He originally joined Austin Commercial in 1998 and then served as president and CEO of TEXO before returning to Austin.
Austin Industries—the parent company to subsidiaries Austin Industrial, Austin Commercial and Austin Bridge & Road—has named Brett Billups vice president of people. Billups was most recently with Iron Mountain, a publicly traded international data/records management and storage company, as human resources business partner.
Todd Grigsby has been named CEO of Cajun Industries LLC and Mike Moran has been named president of the company after Lane Grigsby, founder of Cajun and its subsidiaries, sold his majority interest in the company to Todd Grigsby and Moran.
Meanwhile, Scott Callaway has been named president of Cajun Deep Foundations LLC, a subsidiary of Cajun Industries.
Henry Serry was promoted to president of Koontz Construction Inc. as part of the company’s leadership succession plan. Serry had been chief operating officer for the company since it was founded in 2000. Gerald “Jerry” Turman, previous president of the firm, announced his retirement.
Surveying and Mapping LLC has promoted two employees. Christopher M. Solomon has been named president. He has been with the company since it was founded in 1994 and was formerly a senior vice president. Solomon was appointed principal in 2007. H. Stroud Evans, vice president of SAM-Construction Services LLC, a subsidiary of SAM, was promoted to principal.
Ray Sedey was appointed president of McCarthy Building Cos.’ Texas region. Michael McWay, the company’s former president for the Texas region, retired on Dec. 31. Before assuming his current position, Sedey had been executive vice president, overseeing company operations in Nevada, New Mexico and Colorado.
The Walsh Group has promoted David Casey to president of the company’s heavy civil division. Casey succeeds Don Gillis, who had been president since 2011. Since 1990, Casey has held many leadership roles within the company, having served as program manager, business group leader, vice president and chief operating officer. Gillis will remain with the company, serving as an adviser on special projects.
Bob Rayes has joined Corgan as a principal in the new role of chief information officer. Additionally, Dav Rice was promoted to chief technology officer.
Bury has promoted three employees. Brad Harwick becomes senior vice president/director of corporate development in Austin; Dave De Weirdt is now senior vice president, survey in Dallas; and Josh Millsap is senior vice president/director of operations, civil land development in Dallas.
Callison and RTKL have joined forces as CallisonRTKL, combining their two Dallas offices. The company has made the following appointments. David Cassidy has been named senior vice president and will lead the department stores team for the retail stores practice group. He will also serve as office director in Dallas and as the acting leader for the Latin America region in the retail stores group. Cassidy previously led Callison’s Dallas and Mexico City offices.
Brian Adams was named vice president and is acting leader for the commercial group for Latin America. In addition to managing the Dallas office’s planning and landscape architecture team, he will drive business development and brand positioning for commercial projects in Latin America.
Field superintendent Charles Armbruster has been promoted to vice president of operations for Baker Drywall’s Dallas office.
Tom Brooks has been promoted to the position of senior vice president of operations at Western Specialty Contractors. He was previously vice president of operations and business development. Brooks has been with the firm since 2012.
Neil Riddle has joined Caddell as vice president of power and industrial and will spearhead a major new initiative that will build on Caddell’s previous power/industrial experience and expand into related maintenance and construction markets.
Gibbs Construction has hired four new employees. Richard Dupont has been named vice president – executive in charge with a focus on preconstruction; Steven Brett Dykes has been named industrial business unit manager; Wade P. Frey Jr. is now industrial business unit superintendent; and Jeffrey M. Stolier is manager of preconstruction services.
Bill Hicks has joined Halff Associates Inc. as vice president and branch manager of the firm’s new Tyler office, which will serve the East Texas region.
James Shanks has joined Halff’s Houston office. Before joining Halff, Shanks oversaw a broad program of land development projects for large-scale, master-planned communities and municipalities.
Robert Grim is now AECOM’s Gulf/Southwest region executive. He joined AECOM in March 2015 and spent the first four months with the energy, infrastructure and industrial construction oil and gas team in Canada as COO, then joined the West/Gulf Coast region in August as COO.
John D. Waltz has joined E.E. Reed Construction LP as vice president of operations. He previously worked for E.E. Reed from 1995 to 2011.
Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam Inc. has promoted Stephen Gilbreath, JP Grom and Derek St. John to vice presidents.
Jeff Grigsby has joined Sundt Construction Inc.’s Dallas-Fort Worth team as preconstruction project manager to lead transportation construction projects. Phillip Krutz has joined Sundt as senior project manager for the company’s Texas team in the San Antonio office.
Trevor Meeks has been promoted to partner at Meeks + Partners. He has been with the firm since 2005.
Alliance Safety Council’s William Dufrene was named vice president of the Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils.
Morrison Hershfield has opened a new Houston office, led by Michael Plewacki, senior building envelope consultant. He joined the firm in 2014 as the Texas and Southwest region team manager.
Marco Villarreal has joined LJA Engineering as a senior project manager in the firm’s midstream division.
Gary Hodges has joined Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson as vice president and project director in Texas in the firm’s program and construction management practice.
Mike Purcell has been named health care business unit manager at The McDonnel Group.
C. Paul Jones Sr. has joined McKim & Creed Inc. as regional manager of the firm’s geomatics operations in Texas. He had been a senior project manager with Landpoint LLC.
Linda Yang has joined PCG as a project manager. She comes to PCG from HOK and Gensler, where she primarily focused on mixed-use and commercial projects.
Freese and Nichols has hired several new employees. Kalli Clark-Egan has joined the firm’s Houston office as a senior engineer with the southeast water resources group. She joins the firm after having designed and managed large-scale infrastructure projects with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District, working as deputy chief of the engineering and construction division.
Sandip Faldu has joined Freese and Nichols’ Dallas office as a senior engineer with the transportation planning group. Faldu previously served as a transportation engineering manager with C&M Associates Inc.
Tom Hill has joined the firm’s southeast treatment, transmission and utilities group as a senior engineer with the Pearland office to support the water transmission subpractice team. Hill previously served as a lead flow assurance and hydraulic engineer at Amec Foster Wheeler.
Stantec has made several new hires. Julie Zitter is an interior design lead in the Austin office. Ryan Bloom is a designer in the firm’s San Antonio office. Jimmy Castellanos is a project architect in the Plano office. Andrew Mock is a structural designer in the Plano office. Luciana Velez is an architectural designer in the Plano office.
Ryan Gootee General Contractors LLC has hired Chad Leibe as a project superintendent.
