W.S. Atkins plc., London, has completed the acquisition from Salt Lake City, Utah-based EnergySolutions, Inc. of its nuclear engineering unit, Projects, Products and Technology for $318 million. With 650 employees, PP&T handles decontamination and decommissioning work at high-hazard government nuclear facilities in North America and Asia.

The purchase gives Atkins “the capability to work on almost any project, anywhere in the world,” says Mark Morant, president of Atkins's Americas and Asia Pacific nuclear division.

Globally, Atkins nuclear now employs 2,000 people in the U.K., North America and China.
