Minnesota

Twin Metals Minnesota continues to work on a $2-billion to $3-billion proposal to develop an underground copper, nickel and platinum mine and processing facility near Ely in the state’s northeastern corner, near the Canadian border. The proposed mine, concentrator and related facilities would be connected via underground corridors, minimizing surface impacts. The engineering team consists of Tetra Tech, Conestoga Rovers & Associates, URS Corp. and Barr Engineering Co. A formal proposal to regulatory agencies is expected sometime in 2018.
