In terms of Portland trends, “housing is going crazy right now,” Larco says, adding “there is a ton” of multifamily housing projects in both the central city and inner suburbs, including North Portland. Developers are also experimenting with a range of amenities. Because many Portland newcomers grew up in suburbs, they seek outdoor features like rooftop gardens, Larco adds. Overall, the biggest issue facing Portland leaders is housing solutions for the homeless, Larco says.
