Zons Development is leading planning of the Emerald City mixed-use community in Palm Bay. The project, valued at more than $750 million, includes plans for approximately 3,500 residential units and more than 1.7 million sq ft of nonresidential construction for office, retail, medical and research space. Strategic Property Partners, led by Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik, is initiating infrastructure work and moving forward with further conceptual planning for its Channelside District project in Tampa, valued at more than $500 million. Plans for the development include a 400-room hotel condominium building; the 330,000-sq-ft University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine; 660,000 sq ft of residential space; parking garages totaling roughly 5,000 spaces; 250,000 sq ft of retail; and renovations to the Marriott Channelside Hotel. Georgia

DPR Construction is the contractor for the $375-million Coda Building project in Atlanta. The 750,000-sq-ft project includes partial demolition of the existing Crum & Forster building. New construction could include additions to that existing structure as well as construction of a 21-story tower; expansion of Georgia Tech’s Technology Center; 480,000 sq ft of office space spread across 13 floors; an 80,000-sq-ft data center; and 35,000 sq ft of ground-floor retail/lobby and other space. Georgia

Brasfield & Gorrie is leading construction of the estimated $465-million Marcus Tower at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. The project includes construction of a 16-story, structural steel heart services tower and demolition of the existing Sheffield Building. Overall, the project includes 870,305 sq ft of new construction and 45,583 sq ft of renovation work. The facility will include 408 beds, 10 operating rooms, eight cardiac cath labs, four electrophysiology labs and a 300-car parking garage. Demolition work began in January. North Carolina

Fluor Federal Solutions has started construction on the estimated $1.2-billion Novo Nordisk manufacturing plant in Clayton. The project includes construction of seven two-story buildings totaling 833,000 sq ft. Scope of work includes construction of a production facility; warehouse for raw materials, finished product and consumable/cold storage materials; fermentation buildings for raw product growth; recovery buildings for separation of yeast and by-products; purification buildings for product refinement; wastewater tank, fire water tank and cooling towers; and office and laboratory space. The contractor will also construct a bridge over Norfolk Southern Railroad to provide truck access to the facility.
