Overall Construction Spending Expected to Rise Almost 2% This Year

“There are a lot of opportunities out there—the Illinois Tollway is strong, there’s area-wide need for improvements. There will be some concourse and terminal expansion at [O’Hare] airport as well,” Becherer says. “The Chicago Transit Authority is looking at extending the red line. The biggest challenge I see on the national and state level is figuring out where the national and state-level infrastructure funding is going to come from. There is uncertainty as we try to move these programs forward. I think it’s a fair thing to be concerned about.”
