North Carolina Wake County Public Schools is planning to build Barton Pond Elementary School in Raleigh. The two-story, 108,530-sq-ft building will accommodate 780 students and feature three classroom wings perpendicular to the main corridor. Modeley Architects is the designer, and Barnhill Construction has been chosen as the construction manager-at-risk. Construction is expected to start in July 2018 and to be completed by August 2019. Utah The Ute Indian Tribe is planning to build a pumped storage project. It will consist of an intake and discharge structure at one of seven locations in Flaming Gorge Reservoir, an underground tailrace between the reservoir intake-outlet structure and the powerhouse, pump-turbine units in an underground powerhouse with generation capacity of 500 MW to 1,000 MW, a penstock between the powerhouse and the upper reservoir, a dam at one of seven locations forming the upper reservoir, an upper reservoir at one of seven locations with a capacity between 5,000 and 10,000 acre-ft at an elevation between 6,800 and 7,500 ft, and a transmission line from the powerhouse to the nearest major transmission interconnection. West Virginia Appalachian Power is planning to upgrade 17 miles of the Baileysville-Tams Mountain transmission line to 69-kV standards, as well as upgrade existing substations. Rhode Island AECOM has been selected to design, build and operate a new water treatment plant for the city of Woonsocket. The project will include a raw water pump station, a new raw water transmission main, a new redundant raw water transmission main, and a new water treatment plant with associated utility connections and pavement and drainage improvements on Jillson Avenue, with an initial capacity of 7 million gallons per day, expandable to 10.5 million gallons per day. The project entails renovating 32,600-sq-ft of existing building footprint of the first floor of wings 1D & 1E, plus constructing a 7,680-sq-ft one-story addition to house a 27-bed community living center.
