Arizona Trammell Crow Co. is planning to develop a 609-unit, seven-story apartment complex along Fillmore Street between Fourth Avenue and Sixth Avenue in Phoenix. Colorado Denver Water is planning to expand Gross Reservoir in Boulder County by raising Gross Dam by 131 ft, to a final height of 471 ft, increasing storage volume to about 119,000 acre-ft from 41,811 acre-ft. A downstream, roller-compacted concrete buttress that matches the existing curvature of the dam is planned and will require more than 900,000 cu yd of RCC. Further, the work will involve foundation preparation, RCC construction, outlet-works modification, spillway construction, and mechanical, electrical and operations enhancements. Minnesota Enerkem is planning to construct the first garbage-to-ethanol plant in the U.S., on a 10-acre site, near the Pine Bend and Dawn Way landfills, in Inver Grove Heights. The plant will process 400,000 tons of solid waste into the gasoline additive. The plant will reuse wastewater from the Empire Treatment Facility, in Empire Township. South Carolina Belmont Sayre LLC and Three Corners Development are planning to develop a mixed-use project on the former Judson Mill site, in Greenville. It will include 215,000 sq ft of office, warehouse and light-manufacturing space in three buildings; 402,800 sq ft of residential space—about 400 apartments—in three buildings; 60,000 sq ft of workforce and senior housing, and a two-deck parking garage with approximately 400 parking spaces. Once home to the county’s largest textile mill, the 36-acre property includes an 800,000-sq-ft building, which the developer plans to convert to residential space. The work will include demolition of unneeded additions to a former mill building, preservation of the original smokestack, and creation of six and a half acres of open space. Tennessee Elmington Capital Group is planning to build Dwell at Shelby Farms, a 71-acre residential development, in Cordova. Totaling 979 units, the complex will comprise 715 apartments in three- and four-story multifamily buildings, 102 single-family houses and 162 senior-living units. The project will have just over 1.7 million cu yd of earthwork—topsoil, excavation, embankment; a concrete control structure, located in the Park River; three railroad bridges, two railroad shooflies and one roadway bridge; improvements on about 1.3 miles roadway—sliver widening, hot bituminous pavement, aggregate surfacing; and earthen inlet and outlet structures. Oregon Kiewit Infrastructure West Co. has begun a design-build project to expand Willamette National Cemetery.The 21-acre enlargement will incorporate 23,150 grave sites.
