Arizona Maricopa County Dept. of Transportation is planning to build the Deer Valley Road Bridge in Sun City West. The five-lane, 2.6-mile-long bridge will connect the east end of Williams Drive at 117th Avenue to the west end of Deer Valley Road at 109th Avenue. It will span both the Agua Fria River and the Agua Fria Truck Road Reliever. Construction is expected to begin in the fall of 2019. It is being designed by Aztec Engineering. Arkansas The Fort Smith Public School District is planning to construct two tornado shelters at Southside High School. The shelters may double as meeting spaces or gyms. Connecticut Eversource Energy is planning to construct a new substation and underground transmission line in Greenwich. The project entails building two new 115-kV underground lines extending 2.3 miles from the existing Cos Cob substation to a new substation at 290 Railroad Ave, which will have a 15-ft brick perimeter wall to serve as a firewall and security fence. In addition, modifications will be made to the Cos Cob substation. The project is valued at $104 million. Kansas The Lawrence Unified School District #497 is planning an addition and renovation project for Lawrence High School. The 27,000-sq-ft addition will contain a link to the annex, a link to the auxiliary gym and natatorium, expanded classrooms and a kitchen; it also will address thermal and moisture concerns at an existing masonry wall. The renovation of the existing 288,000-sq-ft structure includes more classroom space, a fine arts auditorium stage, an orchestra room, storage and rehearsal space, physical education and athletic locker rooms, a library/media center, an administrative area, a career and technical education area, a natatorium, and fire and bus lanes. It is being designed by Gould Evans Associates, and McCown Gordon Construction has been chosen as the construction manager. The project is valued at $41 million. Oregon Graves Hospitality Corp. is planning to build the Moxy Hotel at 539 SW 10th Ave. in Portland. The 12-story, 175-room hotel will include a loading bay lined with food stalls. Utah KBS Realty Advisors is planning to develop the Hardware Village complex in Salt Lake City. The mixed-use project entails two six-story buildings (called East Village and West Village) at the intersection of 400 West and North Temple. East Village will have six floors of residential above two floors of subterranean parking accessed from a new street that will separate the residential buildings. Townhomes and commercial space will be on the ground floor. West Village will also offer six residential floors, but the building will wrap around an eight-level parking structure with a sky deck. West Village will also include townhomes on the first floor and an internal courtyard accessed off of a new midblock street on the building’s east side. A sloped walkway will provide both buildings with a direct pedestrian connection to the North Temple Viaduct and TRAX station. The developers will incorporate the historic Salt Lake Hardware Building, a five-story brick warehouse erected in 1909, into the development. Virginia Compass Datacenters is planning to build the True North Data Center in Ashburn. Florida 7/3 United Development Group is seeking bidders to build The Sovana at Stuart, an age-restricted apartment complex in Stuart. The development will include one four-story building, two three-story buildings and a clubhouse—totaling 237,009 sq ft—on a 9.42-acre site. There will be 182 units, a swimming pool and a dog park.
