Jacksonville construction spending expected to rise more than 7% this year

Healthy gains are forecast for the nonresidential and non-building sectors, while residential work edges higher.

Recently, says Largura, Jacksonville’s urban core has seen a “flurry of activity” related to redevelopment of the former shipyard district and entertainment area near the Jacksonville Jaguars stadium. “We hope to see some of these projects take legs in the near future and drive necessary related infrastructure projects,” he says. Largura also expects to see a greater focus on the urban core, predicting that the development of rapid transit bus systems “will play into the long-term connectivity plan of the city.”
