The Transbay Joint Powers Authority, on Oct. 14, announced the completion of shoring under cracked girders in Salesforce Transit Center, which span 80 ft over Fremont Street. In late September, TJPA closed the 4.5-block-long hub, after the discovery of the cracks in the bottom flanges of the girders.
TJPA also announced it will reopen Fremont Street in time for the morning rush hour on Oct. 15. Shoring work continues at night under a similar twin girder system that spans First Street, though no cracks have been discovered there.
The transit center, which opened in August, remains closed.
