Salt River Project plans to add 1,000 MW of new utility-scale solar energy to its system by the end of fiscal year 2025. That is a boost of 700 MW over the community-based, not-for-profit Arizona utility’s current resource plans and an acceleration of its pace. SRP’s existing solar resources total 200 MW, including several large-scale arrays and smaller arrays with battery storage. Adding 1,000 MW will bring the total to more than 1,200 MW of solar facilities, and the utility will be looking to install additional battery capacity as well, SRP officials say. SRP will add 200 MW of new solar annually through 2025 under the plan revealed Nov. 15.
